Late Pakistani chef Fatima Ali wins James Beard Media Award
The Top Pakistani-American chef contestant Fatima Ali, who passed away earlier this year has been awarded the 2019 James Beard Media Award for her personal essay “I’m a chef with a terminal cancer. This is what I’m doing with my time left.”
She got known on Bravo’s Top Chef where she came in seventh in the 15th Season. She was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer. At the initial stage chemotherapy benefitted her but later she got to know that the cancer had spread throughout. The 29 year old was followed widely and was fan’s favourite.
It was in September 2018 that her cancer returned. In October 2018, she wrote this essay for the Bon Appetit Magazine.
The Award ceremony will be held on 6th May 2019.
